Reality TV is the Adult Equivalent of Playing Dress Up

An interesting take on a usually mind-numbingly predictable show…but a show that is still my (not even guilty) pleasure.

How the Bachelorette Failed Becca Kufrin

Since becoming a fan of the show during Desiree’s season (she’s pregnant with baby number two–a franchise success), this is the first time where I legitimately just don’t know who she is going to pick, but the article points out that we don’t know Becca well enough to know.

It’s frustrating to the public when the media presents a reality star just as they are–someone we don’t know. Maybe it’s just because she’s uninteresting, but maybe Becca wanted to keep her real image a little more personal. In such an era of showing off everything on social media, we forget that personal images are things that we build, and some people don’t want to expose something they are proud of. It goes for any reality show that it is the reality that producers create and they have no obligation to not deceive us. The Kardashian’s are just people who a TV network happened to paint into characters, and when it comes down to it, we really have no right to know anything about anyone’s life.

But if the public were to require the truth, my Monday nights would be a lot more boring.

Becca pick Blake.

I’ll be waiting for you with a shoulder to cry on, Garrett.

And Jason for BACHELOR!

(Just so we’re clear…Blake for Becca, Garrett for me, and Jason for Bachelor).
