The American Princess Meghan Markle: Diana meets Grace

ABC News

There are few people that fascinate me more than Princess Diana.

Although I was just six months old when she reached her tragic end, any time there is a documentary on her I stop what I’m doing and turn on the TV. I feel connected to her, like she’s drawing me in from her resting place above us, luring me with her signature sapphires.

I often wonder if Princess Diana is why my favorite stone is a sapphire. That, or because my mom has a sapphire from my great-great aunt that I have always been in love with. Or maybe, I love her simply because there is no one else like her. On the surface, she had beauty, grace, glamour, and below, was a complicated past that made her the most complicated of all: human. She was unprecedented.

There will never be another Diana.

While I sadly missed Princess Diana’s moment, asof November 27th and a 3 stone rock the size of my head to seal the deal, I’m not missing Meghan Markle’s. There will never be another Di, but there might just be a another Grace Kelly.

She is beautiful, smart, (she has been a humanitarian longer than she has known Harry), and she has the glamorous past as a Hollywood to make her even more unattainable. I love her already. And the most alluring of them all: She’s an American.

Although she’s far from normal, she has done what every “commoner” like me has wanted to do since Kate met William at St. Andrews; Meghan Markle has infiltrated the royal family. Harry is marrying an American.

She has had her time in Hollywood, and now she’s moving onto Kensington Palace. She is meeting her beginning as a royal at the same age Princess Diana met her sad end, thirty-six. Diana was a child when she married Charles, and I think Meghan’s age will only give her more wisdom as the new American princess. She may have filled Diana’s diamonds, but now it’s time to fill her shoes. Her brand new unworn, one of a kind, unprecedented shoes.

Like I said, there will never be another Diana, but there is about to be another Grace Kelly, and I couldn’t be more excited.
