Back Away from the Rocky Road

Too often, we look for things to make us happy in the same places we found something that eventually made us sad. A sad fact of life is that it is rare that too much of a good thing ends well. Eventually, good things turn sour, and the saddest part is that it’s the greatest things that leave you with the most bitter taste in your mouth. Like a favorite tub of ice cream, you may want to eat the whole thing, but you have to be smart enough to know that if you do, a stomachache is inevitable.

“Why do we so often strive to find happiness in the same places we lost it?”

When you actively search for happiness, it’s rare that it comes. While I may not take my own advice, I 100% believe that happiness is a state of mind, not something that can be found, and the people who are waiting to find it are most likely unhappy. As cliche as it is, you have to create your own sunshine. A perfect forecast is never promised.

Happiness is often like a $20 bill on the floor of a crowded bar. You can go back and look for it, but I can almost promise you that it’s not there.

What I can promise you is that there’s plenty more $20 bills. All you have to do is try a new ATM.
